Introducing Mark Aldous

Composer

Born and raised in Cornwall, music has been a central part of Mark's life since his first piano lesson at the age of 7. At 15, Mark was fortunate to have lessons from esteemed percussion teachers, Paul Hiley and James Wycherley. 

In 1994, Mark moved to Cambridge to study music at Anglia Ruskin University. Percussion study continued under Martin Westlake and Bobby Ball.

 

Since graduating, Mark has been in constant demand as percussionist, teacher, composer and musical director. Mark has worked on over 55 large scale theatre productions as conductor/musical director including the national touring show "Over The Rainbow".

Today, Mark is an Assistant Head at Cambridgeshire Music, the county music service for Cambridgeshire, and works as a specialist percussion examiner for Trinity College London as well as contributor to and consultant on the current Percussion syllabus. 

 

As Head of Percussion at Cambridgeshire Music, Mark pioneered the Striking Together strand of mass percussion events which culminated in a World Record Breaking performance in 2012.

In 2017, Mark gained a Master's Degree in Professional Media Composition from Thinkspace Education in partnership with the University of Chichester. Since then he has worked on several bespoke media projects including theatre and film projects.
